Twitter, Bigger than Jesus, I mean Facebook?
Actually, no. Twitter is no Facebook, which has a wide appeal; moms, grandfathers, ex-girlfriends, Hollywood agents. While Twitter is still relegated to the tech insider hipster crowd (seriously, in an informal survey, I asked a room full of people 18-56 if they use Twitter. One heard of it, the others thought I was talking about masturbation, I think, but that’s kinda appropriate.) To me, Twitter is a watered down, de-featured Facebook. Twitter should be acquired soon before they become the next Friendster. They should’ve taken the deal from Facebook (who could release a Twitter-killer in a snap), just like Digg should’ve done the Google deal.
Am I wrong? Are you using Twitter and loving it? Or is it the flavor of the month? Comment Below:
Twitter is rumored to be raising $20 million (or more) in venture capital funding at a valuation that would peg the company to be worth $200 million or higher. IVP, a late stage VC investor is rumored to have signed on, reports TechCrunch. Peter Kafka has been able to confirm from his sources that the funding for San Francisco-based microblogging company is indeed in the works. – from Gigaom
Twitter is more of a mobile app than Facebook is, and mobile, while wildly speculative, is all about hype and fads with very little to show for it. On top of this, the wireless world remains a largely closed one where to become a true success you need to operate in the world of carriers, something that is impossible to pull off. – from Watchmojo
Twitter, which just recently turned down a half billion dollar acquisition offer from Facebook (albeit to be paid mostly with Facebook stock), is dipping back into the venture capital market, we’ve heard from a source with knowledge of the deal. They’ve signed a term sheet with at least one venture fund to raise a new round at a $250 million valuation. We are still gathering information on how much they’re raising and from whom. – from Techcrunch
And what does LisaNova have to say?
And dbag Kevin Rose?
As @garyvee says, “link it up.” Put links to your Twitter profile everywhere. Link it on your Digg, LinkedIn, Facebook, blog, email signature, and everywhere else you live online. Also, check out the great feedburner-like badges from TwitterCounter for your blog. – from Techcrunch
Seems like way too much work for an app that’ll be gone in a year or replaced by something else. Oh wait, Kevin is a Twitter investor. Gotcha.
