Happy Birthday E. C. Segar! You get a Google Doodle. Popeye pictured eating spinach is the celebrated on the Google.com main page for today, December 8. Honoring E.C. Segar’s birthday back in 1894, the celebrated cartoonist was the creator of Popeye the sailor man. Today is the 115th anniversary of E.C. Segar’s birthday, which is why Google
have decided to celebrate by posting a doodle on their home page. For those of you who had never heard of E.C. Segar before now, he is the creator of Popeye. Google have depicted the cartoon character, which first entered the public consciousness back in 1929 in Segar’s newspaper comic strip, in a typically feisty pose, to honor Elzie Crisler Segar on what would have been his 115th birthday.
