Man who killed 3 Wisconsin teens gets life behind bars

A Michigan man who killed three swimmers at a river on the Wisconsin border showed no remorse Thursday and told the victims’ parents they just needed to get over the deaths, shortly before he was sentenced to life in prison.

Retards playing Quidditch

They’re playing in rain-sodden fields near the University of Wisconsin-Madison Natatorium, not in the airspace next to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And instead of zipping loop-de-loops on bewitched broomsticks, they trot doggedly with kitchen brooms between their legs. But the nine UW-Madison students — all women — are shouting to each other about quaffles, bludgers and golden snitches, and, despite a steady rain, are clearly delighting in a vigorous game of Quidditch. Yes, Quidditch. – from Madison

Germantown Wisconsin Barn Burns

Firefighters in Germantown, Wisconsin fought an intense barn fire. A lack of fire hydrants made knocking down the flames difficult.

GPS-enabled asthma inhaler

Thanks to David Van Sickle, we’ll soon be able to track (and hopefully eliminate) recurring asthma attack outbreaks. Sickle, a scholar in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is working with students in the biomedical engineering program to create an asthma inhaler with a built-in GPS receiver. The project is still in its early stages, but David’s goal is to eventually map out danger zones that could be life-threatening to those stricken with the lung disease. He already has it all mapped out: “rescue inhalers” will pinpoint the location of each asthmatic attack and cross-reference it with other devices, attempting to detect new locations and trends that previously flew under the radar undetected by asthma researchers. Sickle envisions a time when his technology can help researchers discover exactly why people suffer from asthma. – FROM CNET

22-Year-Old Elected Wisconsin Mayor

Justin Nickels was one year old the last time the people of Manitowoc, Wisconsin elected a new mayor. The 22-year-old was elected by a 15-vote margin Tuesday, becoming the youngest mayor the city has ever had.

Wisconsin man shots son with BB gun because he was in front of TV

Yes, a shot in the ass is exactly what a 9-year old needs as a ‘joke’. Stupid shit. For punishment, they should shot this guy’s dumb ass for being lazy moron.

A father allegedly shot his 9-year-old son in the buttocks with a BB gun, a revelation that came to light after the boy wrote a school essay about the incident. The essay referred to the “painful afternoon my Dad shot me with a BB gun.” The boy wrote that his mother could hear him scream from the road, and called the experience “the most painful thing I ever felt in my life.” The elementary-school teacher turned the essay over to Dane County investigators. David J. Peschl, 36, was charged Friday with one felony count of child abuse. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. – From Fox News

Peschl admitted to investigators that he shot the boy, the criminal complaint said. Peschl said he was trying to watch TV in his home in the southern Wisconsin town of Oregon but the boy was blocking his view and didn’t move out of the way when asked to do so. – From Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

I’m not sure which part is more depressing: that a father would shoot his son with a BB gun or that the boy would think it normal to write about in a school essay. A Wisconsin nine-year-old related the day his father shot him in the buttocks for not moving out from in front of the TV screen in an essay for his teacher; and the teacher called in police to investigate the boy’s father. – From Babble.com.au

Former Racine, Wisconsin, mayor pleads not guilty in Internet sex sting bust

Lost his job. Busted for soliciting a minor via the Internet. Wife filed for divorce. More charges for possession of child porn. Not a good month for Mr. Becker.

Former Racine Mayor Gary Becker faces two more charges related to his arrest in an Internet sex sting and didn’t speak during a court hearing Tuesday. The court entered not guilty pleas on Becker’s behalf to eight felony charges after prosecutors announced that they were filing two new counts of possession of child pornography. Becker’s attorney, Patrick Cafferty, told The Associated Press he was told about the new charges earlier Tuesday before the afternoon arraignment and used a procedural rule of having Becker stand mute instead of responding to the charges. – From Chicago Tribune

Two more charges of possession of child pornography have been filed against former Racine Mayor Gary Becker. During an arraignment in Racine County Circuit Court Tuesday, Becker did not enter a plea. Instead, he allowed Judge Stephen Simanek to enter a not guilty plea to the charges, which include attempted sexual assault of a child, child enticement, using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, misconduct in public office, and now three counts of possession of child pornography. Becker is scheduled to return to court April 3rd for a pre-trial conference. – From Wisconsin Radio Network

Not guilty pleas were entered Tuesday on behalf of Gary Becker at the former Racine mayor’s arraignment on criminal charges stemming from an Internet sting investigation. As is done in some cases, Becker didn’t speak when asked to enter his pleas, so Racine County Circuit Judge Stephen Simanek entered the pleas for him. Becker, 51, had been charged with five felonies and a misdemeanor. But two more charges were entered Tuesday. He is accused of trying to arrange to have sex with a 14-year-old girl he thought he was corresponding with on the Internet. An undercover agent for the state actually was exchanging messages with him. – From Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY no more

A promoter for the Motor Sports Monster Truck & Thrill Show has died from injuries after an accident in Wisconsin, just over a week after a 6-year-old boy was killed in a monster truck event in Tacoma, Wash.

Eisenhart, GeorgeGeorge Eisenhart Jr. was greatly admired by monster truck industry colleagues for promoting safety and helping build success with a sport he worked in for more than 16 years. Eisenhart, 41, from Chardon, Ohio, died from injuries after being struck by a truck Saturday night at a Monster Truck Nationals show at the Dane County Coliseum.

“A tragic accident” is how Dane County officials describe the death of George Eisenhart Jr. at the Monster Truck Nationals show Saturday night at the Dane County Coliseum — the second death in just over a week involving monster trucks. Eisenhart, 41, of Chardon, Ohio, was hit by one of the giant-wheeled, thundering vehicles he loved when he stepped into its path near the end of the performance. He was pronounced dead two hours later at Univeristy of Wisconsin Hospital of major, “crushing” internal injuries, Coroner John Stanley said. – from Madison.com

The Dane County Coroner says 41-year-old George Eisenhart Jr. of Chardon, Ohio, died after the accident on Saturday night in Madison. A witness tells the Wisconsin State Journal that Eisenhart walked out in front of one of the monster trucks just as it was about to pass by. – from Foxnews

The driver of the monster truck that crushed the show’s promoter and announcer during a performance at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison on Saturday did not see the victim, who had left a track safety well, the Dane County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday. Eisenhart was crushed under a 600-pound wheel on the truck known as “Samson” driven by Daniel Patrick, 54, of Circleville, Ohio, a veteran of more than 20 years in the business, officials said. – from Milwaukee

WTF is going on in Wisconsin!? First snowmobilers run over and kill five deer, now this.

Brutality on open water left 57 mallard ducks dead Tuesday afternoon in Fond du Lac. The ducks were found about 2 p.m. in and around open water on the Fond du Lac River near the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, said Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Warden Supervisor George Protogere of Green Bay. It is the second incident in a week in the state regarding snowmobiles and animal cruelty. Scumbags use snowmobiles in thrill killing of deer

A-holes at work.

Thrill killing is suspected in the slaughter of five deer in Waupaca County, with snowmobilers believed to have chased the animals down in a field and run them over, authorities said Monday. By Monday afternoon, a reward fund for information leading to the killers had climbed to $9,000, fueled by local snowmobile clubs and residents outraged by the crime. “Apparently some people using snowmobiles as a weapon ran down, dragged and did unspeakable acts of cruelty” to the deer, said state Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Laurel Steffes. – From JSonline.com

A group of snowmobilers in central Wisconsin herded and killed four deer and severely injured a fifth in what a warden called a senseless act of cruelty on Monday. No arrests have been made in the Saturday morning incident about five miles south of Waupaca, said Ted Dremel, a state Department of Natural Resources warden. – From WTMJ
