Ed McMahon dead at 86

ed-mcmahon

Ed’s dead. No more ‘Here’s Johnny.’ No more Publisher’s Clearing House Giveaways. Sadly, Ed will be remembered by so many as the cash strapped, cash4gold.com huckster than a participant in the Tonight Show.

Ed McMahon, the former sidekick of Johnny Carson on “Tonight Show” turned commercial pitchman, has died. McMahon’s death came after years of financial turmoil, a threatened foreclosure on his home, and a terrible fall that resulted in a broken neck. Publicist Howard Bragman said McMahon died early Tuesday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center surrounded by his family. Bragman didn’t give a cause of death, saying only that McMahon had a “multitude of health problems the last few months.” McMahon was 86. – From NY Daily News

Jay Leno reveals final “Tonight Show” guests

Hack comedian Jay Leno, America’s top-rated TV host, will bow out of his 17-year stint on “The Tonight Show” on May 29 in the company of his successor Conan O’Brien and singer James Taylor. Leno, 59, also promised “something really out of the left field” for his last “Tonight Show” before going on to launch a new prime-time chat and comedy show in the fall. Actor Mel Gibson, comedian Billy Crystal, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and rocker Prince will be among the guests in Leno’s final week.
