Star Wars Zombie Posters

EmpireZ4lo

SW.com had a zombie theme this week with different artists creating zombie SW art. Matt Busch hit it out of the park by turning the 6 movie posters into Zombie Wars. The write up for each of his posters is cool because he points out how he evolved each character over the series (Obi Wan gets zombie infected on the TPM poster and gradually becomes more zombie-like for ATOC, ROTS, and ANH).

Bea Arthur Singing in the Star Wars Holiday Special 1978

In a galaxy far far away (AKA YouTube), Bea Arthur singing in the Star Wars Holiday Special November 17, 1978. That George Lucas!

Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows “Maude” and “The Golden Girls” and who won a Tony Award for the musical “Mame,” died Saturday. She was 86.

Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give details.

“She was a brilliant and witty woman,” said Watt, who was Arthur’s personal assistant for six years. “Bea will always have a special place in my heart.”

Star Wars Live Action TV Series Starts Casting

darth-vader-face1

A live-action TV series set in the “Star Wars” cosmos has been an elusive, tantalizing prospect for years. News of the potential production first surfaced in 2005 while George Lucas was promoting “Revenge of the Sith.” Work on the “Clones Wars” animated feature film and Cartoon Network series, though, took creative precedence. In late 2007, Lucas revealed that he and his team were about to begin writing scripts for the live-action show. Now MTV News has learned that casting for the series is currently underway. During the junket for the Nicolas Cage thriller “Knowing,” star Rose Byrne let slip that Team Lucas is casting a wide net for actors to join the show. “A lot of my friends have been auditioning for it,” she said. According to Lucas, the show will focus on minor characters from the saga and be set in the time period between “Revenge of the Sith” (Episode III) and the original “Star Wars” (Episode IV). The action will follow the Rebel Alliance as it slowly gains strength against the Empire. There will be Stormtroopers, but no Jedi or Darth Vader will appear on screen. As he did with the “Clone Wars” series, Lucas will write and shoot an entire year’s worth of episodes before looking for a cable channel on which to air the series. – From MTV

Calista Flockhart has not seen Star Wars. Wait, what?

calista-022508-ajpg

Actress Calista Flockhart has yet to see the Star Wars films which made fiance Harrison Ford a movie icon – seven years after they began dating.

Ford, 66, became a superstar as space action hero Han Solo in the original George Lucas trilogy, which became a $4.3 billion movie franchise.

The couple, who became engaged on 1 April 2007, have been dating since 2002. And Flockhart, who was still a child at the time the original film debuted in 1977, blames her rural upbringing for never seeing the sci-fi franchise that made her fiance a cult hero.

The 44-year-old actress says, “I was never starstruck (by him). I have not seen Star Wars, isn’t that amazing… I’m sure it is (good). It’s weird that I haven’t seen it. We lived in a small town and the movie theatre was an hour away. And I was 12 – the perfect age to see it.”

Top 5 Best Midgets Ever

Because a Top 10 is too high, here’s the Top 5 Best Midgets Ever!

5. Kenny Baker. R2D2. Nuff’ Said.

4. The Lollypop Guild. Oh yeah…

3. Hervé Villechaize, who insisted on being called a “midget” as opposed to a “little person”, which irritated dwarf activists of the time. Take THAT, dwarfs.

2. Warwick Davis. Willow! Jedi! Harry Potter! Any actor would kill for his career. He is (well, at least according to his site) “The Tom Cruise of Midget Actors.”

1. Billy Barty! Oh yes, from Foul Play, Legend to Mr. Shrinker, Billy Barty was the best midget ever….

* Notes: Mickey Rooney was not on this list. Technically, he is not a midget, but he is a freak. Gary Coleman and Emmanuel Lewis are just midget wannabes… Danny DeVito, Dr. Ruth, Estelle Getty (4′11″!) are on the bubble. Verne Troyer is a one hit wonder, but perhaps in 15 years and more movies he’ll be worthy.
