Obama’s spend $4,800.00 on Junk Chandelier for Sasha and Malia

Is $4,800.00 too much for a Junk Chandelier? Here’s the full story about the Magpie Chandelier from Anthropologie only $4,800.00:

Pursuitist item of the day — the Magpie Chandelier from Anthropologie. When Michelle Obama decorated the White House bedroom of first daughters Malia and Sasha, they chose a whimsical chandelier handmade of castoffs, trinkets and other found objects. That $4,800 Magpie Chandelier, designed by a South African art collective commissioned by Anthropologie stores for its catalog, signals a growing trend in home furnishings in general.

Obama Praised Bono for Dodging Hug From George W. Bush

You’d think that any rock star would relish a chance to get a public embrace from the President of the United States, even if they didn’t agree on everything. But not Bono.

On a BBC program last night (see the clip below), the superstar U2 singer recalled how he he stiffed President Bush out of the photo op in 2006 at the National Prayer Breakfast. The former President was on the stage with Bush when “Dubya” tried to hug Bono.

“There were all kinds of people in the audience,” Bono recalled on Jonathan Ross’ talk show.

Bono admitted he didn’t feel like being the recipient of a hug from a man with whom he had so many political disagreements. As the affectionate President neared, Bono tried to “dodge the hug” by jumping behind a podium. Watch:

Obama’s online town hall provides value through data, not answers

The White House used Google’s Moderator and AppEngine this week to gather topics for Thursday’s town hall meeting.  The tactic was introduced as an experiment by Obama earlier in the week.

The experiment was a success, but it wasn’t free of mess.

The president’s Open For Questions town meeting on Thursday, March 26, used Google technology to collect 104,009 questions from 92,937 people, who ranked questions with more than than 3.6 million votes.

During the Town Hall meeting, the president answered seven questions at length.  A little over 24 hours later, I can’t recall many specifics from his reponses, though. In this case, the process used for this town hall meeting overshadowed the content.

Honestly, the most interesting thing to me during this first attempt at a virtual town hall meeting is THE DATA.  I think we can learn more about the economy from the level of participation, 100k+ questions submitted and 3.6 million related votes than from the few political responses they generated. With this in mind, here’s a high-level overview of participation in the context of social media.

We love Malia and Sasha!

sasha-malia

We love Malia and Sasha! We don’t have to have to call them Malia and Sasha Obama. They’re like Madonna – they’re beyond last names.

Aren’t they just adorable? Why do we love them? Well, they get a puppy (get the Labradoodle, girls). Who didn’t want a puppy? If you said yourself, you’re a cruel hearted bastard. They’re helping the economy by causing people to bonkers over fashion. J. Crew are peeing their pants after the inauguration.

Why else? Hot movie stars want to babysit them. They got the hottest teen band to show up at their house. They’re beanie babies for cryin’ out loud!

Did I say they’re adorable?

Any other reason to love Malia and Sasha?

How about this: they offer a display of energy, exuberance, innocence, fun and youth, mixed with class and dignity in circus atmosphere. After Bush 43, we could all use a little bit of that.

Also, they’re adorable.
