A long time getting here with one of the first premiere’s being in LA (see post) then a non stop whistle stop tour of Europe taking in major cities such as Rome and Madrid and finally ending up in London to appear for the UK leg. The power of those Internets stuff is pretty amazing.

Thousands of dancers jammed a major London train station in a Facebook-driven “flashmob” mimicking an advertisement for a phone company. And the event last Friday evening was so successful that another is planned for next Friday in Trafalgar Square in central London. Plus, a group has been set up to organize another one at Liverpool Street Station a week later. Videos posted on the social-networking site showed Liverpool Street Station completely filled with people, counting down the seconds until the clock showed 7 p.m., then dancing to music on their mp3 players as the hour struck. – From CNN

Liverpool Street Station was forced to close for around 90 minutes on Friday night after being over-run by dancers mimicking the T-Mobile “dance” ad. According to reports, more than 13,000 people congregated on the station concourse for a silent disco at 7pm last Friday, organised through the social networking site Facebook. The flashmob prompted police to close the station for fears of overcrowding, and some arrests were made for public order offences. – From Brand Republic

Liverpool Street Station was overrun by dancers who had congregated on the concourse for a silent disco, organised via the social networking website. The crowd, who were all listening to music through headphones, broke into dance at 7pm on Friday night in a scene which aped the advert which was filmed at the station last month. The flash mob caused police to close the station for around 90 minutes due to fears of overcrowding. A father was stabbed to death in front of his 3-year-old daughter on Thursday night as he went to visit his wife and newborn son in hospital. The man was at a bus stop in Croydon, South London, when he got into an argument with an old acquaintance. During a struggle the man, who is originally from Ghana but has lived in Britain for many years, was stabbed to death. – From Times Online

A man was fatally stabbed as he traveled with his three-year-old daughter to hospital where his wife had given birth hours earlier. The victim, aged 26, suffered fatal injuries in the attack at a bus stop in west Croydon, south London. Police said he became involved in an argument with a second man that led to the fatal knife attack. Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons, who is leading the investigation, said the circumstances of the murder are “particularly tragic”. – The Independent

British police say a man has been attacked and killed on his way to a hospital to visit his newborn son. London’s Metropolitan Police said Friday that the 26-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a grocery store in Croydon, south London. The man’s name has not been released.
