Well, Mickey Rourke’s soap opera run at the Oscars took another turn when his beloved pet Chihuahua, Loki, died. Rourke had thanked his dogs at the Golden Globes earlier this year.
Add one more to Mickey Rourke’s pack of heavenly canine companions. The Oscar nominee’s Chihuahua, Loki, one of the dogs memorably thanked by Rourke in his Golden Globe acceptance speech, has died, Rourke’s rep confirmed Tuesday to E! News. Loki passed away Monday night at the ripe old age of 18. The pup was prominently photographed walking the red carpet with his master, who called Loki the “love of [his] life,” at the Venice Film Festival in September. – From eonline.com
Well, this is a fucking sad shot to the heart. Mickey Rourke’s beloved best friend and confidante, Loki, has passed on to the cat cookie bakery in the sky at the tender age of 18 (in human years). Mickey’s rep confirmed to E! that Loki trotted off to heaven on Monday night. When Mickey won the Golden Globe he thanked his dog friends for being the only constant love in his life. And if Mickey wins the Oscar on Sunday, I’m sure Loki will be watching from above. It’s pretty fucking depressing that Loki couldn’t be there with Mickey. I’m sure she had a rhinestone-covered outfit all picked out! – From dlisted.com
“It’s the hardest movie I ever made, and it’s the best movie I ever made, with one of the best directors that I ever worked with,” Rourke told Walters for an interview to air on her Oscar night special. Rourke, who thanked his dogs — “the ones who are here and the ones who aren’t here anymore” — in his Golden Globes acceptance speech, said goodbye to one of his best friends this week. Rourke’s Chihauhau Loki died early Tuesday morning, his representatives confirmed to ABC News. – From ABC News
