Jackman clears up Wolverine reshoots

Hmmm…. I guess we’ll buy Hugh’s nice email, but we remain wary. No matter, nice work on Jackman’s part in keeping abreast of a potentially bad situation and working to spin it so the movie’s buzz doesn’t get harmed. Love the new photo!

Hey folks, Harry here… Apparently Hugh tried to send this to me yesterday. I never received his email. Today, a concerned fairy godmother connected loosely between myself and the man-god Hugh Jackman, tells me that apparently I’m ignoring an email from Hugh Jackman. Interesting… so we begin a series of communications via another party between Hugh and I… and sure enough we discover that I can not get mail from FOX.COM. Apparently they can’t send out to me, yet I can mail in. INTERESTING. Suffice to say, we worked out the tech angles and I got the email and the picture from Hugh. – From AICN

The email from Jackman:

Hey Mate- Would you mind posting this? Thank you for your support! HJ

Hey everyone -

It’s Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie – I owe it all to you guys!

I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we’ve got much more in store!

In the meantime, here’s an exclusive shot of some characters you may recognize…

Cheers,

Hugh

For those of you who had bitten your nails clean off after hearing of ‘extensive’ re-shoots for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Hugh Jackman has responded with what at least sounds to be good news. Hoping to put any stray rumors to rest, Hugh Jackman wrote directly over to AICN to discuss why exactly X-Men Origins: Wolverine was in the process of extensive re-shoots. Besides providing some relief to fans of the franchise everywhere, he was even kind enough to attach the photo posted above. – From SFluxe.com

Last Friday we reported rumours that Fox had ordered extensive re-shoots for X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Vancouver. Since then however both the studio and Hugh Jackman himself have debunked the gossip. Firstly 20th Century Fox told IGN that they had always planned to shoot sequences in Canada, but had to postpone filming due to Hugh Jackman’s publicity commitments for Australia. They also said it they only planned a week’s worth of filming. – From IGN.com

22 mins of Watchmen screened at BNAT X

March is so far away…

Then Rorschach showed up.

Jackie Earl Haley brought the first 22 minutes of WATCHMEN with him,
and if I was a little worried before I’m not at all now, squid or no
squid. This felt very much like Moore’s and Gibbon’s WATCHMEN with
chunks of dialogue taken directly from the book. Yes, Rorschach’s
Journals are in there, full of the misanthropic loathing that we know
and love. Hollis Mason is pimping his book and Dan Dreiberg still
listens to those stories. The opening credits are marvelous,
introducing the characters and the world, effortlessly setting up the
story to the notes of Bob Dylan’s “The Times Are A Changing.” “It’s
very scary playing a guy with a fucking sock on his head,” said Haley
at the Q & A, but he needn’t have worried. He embodies Rorschach
completely, and Haley admitted that the character was a hard one to
shake. Without having seen the entire film, I don’t know if his
performance is awardsworthy, but from what I saw he is off to a hell
of a start. – from AICN

So next, we didn’t get ALL of Watchmen (it ain’t done, folks, calm the
fuck down), we saw the completely finished, full of effects first 22
minutes of the movie. This looks tremendous. Jackie Earle Haley in
person was a nice treat, and a couple questions got vague even for
Inside the Actor’s Studio standards, but it was really a treat. I
wouldn’t want to see this movie in anything but top form…which
brings me to another letter:

Dear Zach (but more the studio that says yea or nay),

We cannot wait for this movie to get all locked and buttoned up. When
you have this done, please bring it to Austin in advance of release.
There are still people out there like a good friend of mine who are
still on the fence about “can they make a good Watchmen movie?” That
22 minutes proved it to me. The word spreads fast from here once we
see this stuff. “Maybe I’ll go next weekend” becomes “well, if you
say so, fuck it, I’ll go the first day.”

Peter Jackson Eulogizes Forrest Ackerman

Hey folks, Harry here… Peter Jackson wrote a lengthy piece about his love for Forrest Ackerman, and sent in a personal photo, from quite some time ago now. Peter and I became friends initially through our passion for the original KING KONG, however I can’t even begin to tell you how often we’ve discussed our mutual admiration for all things Ackerman. He sent this in today and wanted me to share it with all of you. Here’s Peter…

Forry’s death was not unexpected. Thanks to Harry, we had a few weeks to prepare ourselves, and I’ve found myself thinking about Forry a lot recently. Telling people about him, finding old photographs like this one.
