Man Says He “Accidentally” Shot Wife During Sex

Meet Timothy Havens, Giving A New Meaning to Shooting Your Wad.

An Ohio man who claimed that he accidentally shot his wife while they were having sex has been jailed for violating a protection order.

Timothy Havens, 38, of Springfield could face additional criminal charges, The Columbus Dispatch reported. The shooting is being investigated by a grand jury.

Carolyn Havens, 42, of Urbana was hospitalized in Dayton in critical condition.

Havens called 911 Sunday morning and reported shooting his wife. He told an emergency operator that a handgun was lying next to the bed and he tossed it aside.

“We were having sex and it went off,” he said. – from UPI

But police have reason to wonder if the story Havens is telling is true. Court documents show the Ohio man had been given a 60-day suspended sentence for assaulting his wife in October. He was ordered to take anger management classes to control his temper and she took out a protection order against him.

Carolyn Havens remain in critical condition in hospital after the shooting and it’s not clear if police have been able to question her.

It’s also not known how Havens got back into the house or why she would agree to have sex with a man she seemed to fear.
