Bristol Palin, arguably the nation’s best-known unwed teen mother, embarked on a media tour Wednesday to argue that abstinence is a realistic way for teens to avoid unwanted pregnancy.
Levi Johnston says he would be willing to go to court for custody of his son with Bristol Palin, but he doesn’t want it to come to that.
Johnston said on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday that he should have rights to his son Tripp. He also said he hasn’t seen the baby in a couple of weeks.
Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, gave birth Dec. 27 and the teenage parents broke up soon after that. Johnston has claimed in several national TV interviews that Bristol has limited his access to the baby.
Johnston says if it continues, he may have to go to court to secure his legal rights with his son.

Bristol, the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, spoke with FOX News in February and told Greta Van Susteren that she and Levi – who are parents to 2-month-old son, Tripp – expected to get married after they completed high school. “It kind of just happened,” says the source, referring to the split. “I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp.” “I’m not sure what caused [them to break up] – it’s common knowledge,” says another source who knows the family. The mother of Bristol Palin’s boyfriend sent text messages discussing drug transactions less than a month after the young woman’s mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was nominated as the Republican vice presidential candidate, according to court documents filed this week. An affidavit from an Alaska state trooper, filed Monday, states that Sherry L. Johnston referred in her messages to two police informants to “coffee” as a code for the drug OxyContin. Johnston, 42, was arrested on felony drug charges last week after state troopers served a search warrant at her Wasilla home. She allegedly sold OxyContin tablets to the informants on three occasions this fall, the affidavit states. The police busted a couple of her associates, turned them into snitches, wired them, and taped her allegedly engaging in oxycontin transactions. Wasilla resident Sherry L. Johnston, mother of Bristol Palin’s boyfriend, faces a Jan. 6 court date for an oxycontin-related arrest at her home by Alaska State Troopers. Little additional information was available Friday on the case as authorities remained unusually tight-lipped about details. But Palmer court records listed Johnston’s scheduled court date and a troopers spokeswoman said in a release late Friday afternoon that the charges “are in relation to the drug oxycontin.” Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, who Gov. Sarah Palin said was the father of Bristol Palin’s unborn child. Levi Johnston joined the Palins at the Republican National Convention when Palin was running for vice president. It was during the convention that the governor and her husband, Todd, announced Bristol’s pregnancy. – from here
Mrs Johnston was taken into custody on Thursday at her home in Wasilla, Alaska, where Mrs Palin used to be mayor and still lives, and was charged with six counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance. Officials in Alaska said that the arrest was connected with the strong prescription painkiller OxyContin. In addition to possession charges, Mrs Johnston faces a felony charge usually related to selling or manufacturing the drugs.
