ABC brings back Castle, Scrubs

ABC is putting the pieces of its 2009-10 sked together, handing out series orders Friday evening to a handful of pilots while renewing frosh dramedy “Castle” and laffers “Scrubs” and “Better Off Ted.” ABC has greenlighted the murder mystery pilot “Happy Town” and an untitled legal ensembler from scribe Dave Hemingson. It’s also given the nod to the remake of sci-fi drama “V” as a limited series property, according to industry insiders. ABC reps could not immediately be reached for comment. Comedy-wise, the Alphabet has shown the love to “Cougar Town,” featuring Courteney Cox as a newly single mom with a 17-year-old son. ABC also gave a ninth-season renewal to long-running comedy “Scrubs,” which moved from NBC to ABC this past season and had — until two weeks ago — been expected to wrap up its run this spring. – From Variety
