Tony Scott confirms new Alien film will be prequel

A few days ago, Bloody-Disgusting reported that 20th century Fox was going to remake “Alien” and director Carl Rinsch would be helming the movie. Immediately fandom exploded with venom. I think one of the main reasons is that the original is a classic, and 20th Century Fox hasn’t been making films of that caliber recently. So at today’s junket for Tony Scott’s new film “The Taking of Pelham 123″, I went up Tony after the press conference ended to ask him what was up with the remake. The big news is he confirmed Carl Rinsch would be directing it and that it’s a prequel to his brother Ridley’s classic! – From Collider
Up tops box office for weekend

Up trounced everyone at the box office this weekend with an excellent $68 million take. The rest of the field, however, was disappointing. Drag Me to Hell, despite good reviews, couldn’t get past $17 million, while Night at the Museum fell more than anticipated. Same goes for Star Trek and Terminator. Star Trek did become the first film of 2009 to top the $200 million mark.

Nadal ousted with first ever French Open defeat
Rafael Nadal’s unbeaten run at the French Open is over. The four-time defending champion lost to Robin Soderling of Sweden 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-4, 7-6 (2) in the fourth round Sunday, ending his record 31-match winning streak at Roland Garros. “When one player plays bad, [he] must lose,” Nadal said. “[It] was my fault. … I didn’t play my best tennis and for that reason I lose.” Soderling, seeded 23rd at this year’s tournament, ran Nadal ragged on center court with his hard serve and booming forehand. – From ESPN
Susan Boyle has “emotional breakdown”
BRITAIN’S Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle was in the Priory clinic last night suffering from exhaustion.
The singer, dubbed SuBo, had an “emotional breakdown” following Saturday’s final in which she was runner-up. But the talent show favourite was still eyeing a mega United States tour.The 48-year-old virgin, tipped to earn £8MILLION, survived tears and a tantrum to finish second in Saturday’s gripping final of telly’s Britain’s Got Talent.
But the pressure finally told late yesterday as the Scots singer – dubbed SuBo by fans – was rushed to the private clinic suffering from exhaustion.
Show aides had contacted police to say she was acting strangely at her London hotel.
